A Message from Colorado

The once red State of Colorado has turned solidly blue. Members of the Democrat Party now control the entire state government. One might ask, “Have there been noticeable differences?”

Well…

Cory Gardner has been one of the most effective representatives ever elected from Colorado. In his six years he introduced more successful legislation than the rest of the Colorado delegation combined. He has been universally praised for his ability to work with colleagues on both sides of the aisle. He is recognized as being instrumental in convincing President Trump to sign the largest public lands funding bill in the nation’s history, a bill that earned high praise from environmental groups for its far-reaching beneficial effects on the nation’s wild lands. Prior to Gardner’s influence the President had said he would veto the bill. Gardner worked with both sides of a seriously divided Congress to bring a nationwide suicide hotline into existence. Space does not allow a complete list of Sen. Gardner’s accomplishments.

As Governor of Colorado, John Hickenlooper showed a politician’s ability to drift with the political winds. As Governor, he was opposed to a ban on fracking. He once drank fracking fluid to make a point. Campaigning for the Senate, he made his position obscure by saying he wants to make fracking “obsolete.” To this date, he has not clarified where he stands.

His position on gun control was similarly slippery. His opinion was swayed by the 2012 theater shooting in Aurora CO… for a while. When, in 2013, State Senator John Morse was recalled by the voters of his district because of his support of gun control legislation, the Governor became remarkably quiet on the subject.

In his last year as governor, Hickenlooper was charged with ethics violations for taking gifts from supporters in violation of Colorado law. After leaving office, he was found guilty of one of those charges.

In the election just passed, the Democrats, being now the dominant party in Colorado, voted to replace Sen. Gardner with Hickenlooper. What are we to make of this? My take is that the Democrats are so consumed by their desire for power that they do not care who they vote for, so long as he has a “D” beside his name and is sufficiently malleable. John Hickenlooper fits both qualifications.

One might ask why the Democrats are so desperate to gain control of the Senate that they will encourage people to move to Georgia explicitly to vote on January 5 for the Democrat candidates (a felony under Georgia law). What would motivate such desperation that, before it is done hundreds of millions of dollars from far and wide will be spent to influence the election results.

Well…

On November 6, 2018 the Colorado Senate, narrowly held by Republicans, was flipped. On that same ballot was Proposition 112, that proposed regulations to place dramatic limits on oil and gas production. It was generally accepted that, if passed, it would cost Colorado thousands of jobs and hundreds of millions of dollars. Proposition 112 was defeated by the voters of Colorado by 57% to 43%. On January 4, 2019 the session of the Colorado General Assembly began. The newly elected Democrat majority passed a bill almost identical to the ballot measure that was, just two months prior, soundly rejected by the people whom they supposedly represent. Democrat Governor Jared Polis signed it into law. Three seats in the Colorado State Senate going from Republican to Democrat made that possible. Do not doubt that, if Democrats win the US Senate, they will do to the United States exactly what they have done to Colorado.

Democrats. Do. Not. Care. what you or anyone else thinks, believes, or wants. They are determined to impose their agenda, regardless the preference of the electorate. That is why they are so desperate. Without complete control, they know they cannot succeed. Given the opportunity, they will add four liberal justices to the Supreme Court and then, having control of the three branches of the government, will impose one party rule for the foreseeable future. Are we so desperate to end gridlock that we will allow the Democrat Party to eliminate all opposition, opening the floodgates to every government takeover of our lives that they can justify to themselves? If they succeed, they will have no need to justify themselves or their policies to the American people.

The significance of the upcoming runoff election in Georgia cannot be overstated. Flipping the US Senate to Democrat control will be catastrophic.
